EMERGENCIES
School Closure Procedure
Our Priority is to ensure that all children within our care are kept safe and warm. All actions will take this overriding aspect into account.
We assess the risk to children in the first instance before 8am we assess whether or not it is safe for children to travel to and from school. During the day we will assess whether it is feasible for the children to remain in the school or not and whether subsequent risks will arise by sending the children home.
We seek advice from County and they provide information on weather and road conditions across the county.
We will seek Governing Body authorisation if we make a decision to close the school.
If we are closing the school we will inform the Local Authority and Radio Stations.
Closure will be announced by BBC Radio Cornwall, Cornwall Councils broadcasting partner and possibly by other local radio stations. We will endeavour to text and telephone parents of the closure.
A member of staff will remain in the school until all children have been collected. We make sure that children are not sent home where there will be nobody in. A child may go home to a friend's house or neighbour's house, as long as parental consent has been gained beforehand.
